R.A.D. BALLET CLASSES

Classical Ballet is a great foundation for all forms of dance. Ballet students are very adaptable to other styles of dance. We follow the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus as it is one of the only syllabi that is internationally recognized. R.A.D caters for both Girls and Boys. These classes can also be taken to improve general technique for other styles of dance.

Vocational Ballet grades

  • Intermediate Foundation - Ages 11+
  • Intermediate - Ages 12+
  • Advanced Foundation - Ages 13+
  • Advanced 1 - Ages 14+
  • Advanced 2 - Ages 15+
  • Solo Seal - Must hold their Advanced 2 with distinction

Enrolment requirement

  • Minimum 2 Ballet classes per week for all ballet students in vocational grades
  • Minimum 2 Ballet classes and 1 Pointe (Pre-Pointe) class per week for all Pointe students
  • Exam students need to attend all syllabus classes and 1 LSP (Limber-Stretch-Pilates) class per week over at least 3 Terms

"EXPERIENCE THE FULL POTENTIAL OF CLASSICAL BALLET TRAINING" - A GREAT ADDITION TO YOUR R.A.D. SYLLABUS WORK. This training is built up on a diverse range of classical combinations to challenge a dancer's coordination, musicality and technique. It is absolutely advisable for students undertaking RAD exams in their Major Grades to participate in order to prepare themselves for the unseen exercises in their exams. Open Classes increase a dancer's ability to understand ballet terminology to quickly absorb their given exercises.

Xanthe Geeves - Principal

ARAD DDTS Diploma (Distinction), Bachelor of Dance, ARAD Solo Seal, Pilates Teaching Diploma
Xanthe Geeves was born in Sydney, Australia. She started studying classical ballet (RAD) at the age of four with Tanya Pearson and later with Jennifer Ham at Ballet Academy Northside, achieving the highest award of Solo Seal in 1998. She also studied Russian Character Dance, Modern Dance and Jazz Ballet. Xanthe Geeves performed extensively in the New South Wales education system in Modern Dance, representing Primary and High School in Selective Regional performance groups, Schools Spectacular and Rock Eisteddfods. At the age of eight she performed with the Queensland Ballet in the production Midsummer Night’s Dream.…MORE

Gregor Thieler - Principal

Bachelor of Dance, Former Soloist & Principal Dancer
Gregor Thieler was born in Berlin, Germany. He started dancing at the age of 8, receiving his State Diploma at the highest level of dance in Classical Ballet, Classical Variation, Pas de Deux, Modern Dance, Jazz Ballet, Improvisation and Spanish Dance from the Palucca School in Dresden, Germany in 2000. During his time at the Palucca School Gregor was able to work with many renowned German choreographers and master teachers, which later influenced his professional career significantly. After receiving nationally wide recognition by dancing the solo role in Birgit Scherzer’s famous piece “Keith” at the State Ballet School Festival in Cologne and Essen, Germany.…MORE

Emily Foley

ARAD Ballet Teacher
Emily Foley began dancing at the age of 3 years old, her passion for classical ballet became apparent when she auditioned and was successfully accepted into the classical ballet stream at the McDonald College on scholarship. She soon found herself a part of the Australian Ballet Junior Associates program and performing soloist roles in The McDonald Colleges Premier State Youth Ballet Company.In 2008 she started her training at Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy where she studied Classical Ballet, Contemporary and Character Dance. During her time at TPCCA she completed her RAD Advanced 1 & 2 with Distinction as well as having the opportunity to be apart of the Sydney City Youth Ballet productions of Nutcracker, Cinderella and The Polar Express performed at The Glen Street Theatre in Belrose…MORE

Leslie Abraham

ARAD Ballet Teacher, HSC Dance Teacher
Leslie Abraham’s teaching career commenced at The Hammond School in Chester, UK teaching Jazz dance on the vocational course, before achieving a classical ballet teaching qualification with The Royal Academy of Dance. Continually she enjoys teaching and choreographing dance and have choreographed for various productions and dance schools in classical ballet, contemporary and national character dance, rehearsing and adapting roles to suit the production requirements.
